There’s not many places that offer tanning these days and none locally that I know.
I do hide tanning for small to medium hides ( deer, sheep, goats, roo etc) and have started offering limited cattle/bison tanning
The length of time it takes depends on how many hides I’m processing as each is done by hand.
Ideally your hide needs to get to me on the day that it is removed and I offer a local pick up service depending on distance travelled.
If you are unable to get your hide to me in time you can roll it up and freeze it till it can be dropped off.
The other option for hides coming from around the country, once you remove the hide you heavily salt it, roll it up with the flesh side to the inside and set it somewhere cool and out of the sun and allow it to salt dry/cure. Once completely cured it can be posted.
The quality of the finished product can vary due to the way the hide was skinned, handled and prepared prior to arrival etc. Hair slippage can occur if the hide wasn’t salted correctly or was left too long between removal and delivery to me.
Im happy to answer any questions that you have
I offer a pick up service for a small fee depending on distance travelled and number of hides to be collected.
